Community Helpers Week 2

Community Helpers Week 2!

We got to learn more about all the important people in our lives that work around us, keep us safe, help us and work hard in a variety of ways.

On Monday we had a special presentation from Mr. Mike, someone that makes children’s merchandise for a Motor Cross Company!

On Tuesday we had a special presentation from Mr. Brian, a police officer! He let us look at his badge, we learned about how police officers help keep us safe and even got to sit in his car!

We made chef hats today for art and talked a little about the job of a chef. We personalized our hats by spelling out our names with beans.

On Wednesday we had a presentation by our very own Mr. Stas, our school chef. He told us how he prepares lunches and we got a tour of his kitchen!!

We were busy bees and also visited the school library on Wednesday. We learned about the job of a librarian and got to check out a couple of books from our library.

Later we made our very own books! We chose the title, illustrated the books and then dictated the words to go in the books!

On Thursday we pretended to be bakers in Kids Kitchen and made muffins and our own frosting from scratch. They were delicious!!

We also learned about the job of a painter. We learned that a painter could paint pictures or paint walls/ building. Then we had fun painting on our “walls” and making beautiful masterpieces.

On Friday we had an awesome presentation from Ms. Stephanie who is a baker. She baked us amazing little cupcakes in the theme of the movie, “Despicable Me.”

After two weeks of focus on different careers and Community Helpers, I asked the children what job they might want when they grow up. Here is what some of my munchkins said:
