5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Blast off with us to outer
space!!
There is just way too much to learn about when
talking about outer space, so we will be talking about this topic for two weeks
in total.
This first week, we focused on the sun, the
stars and the moon.
We began on Monday with practicing counting
down, like rockets do, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Blast off! We just loved this!!
While we were making rocket ships with our very
own feet prints, my munchkins built rocket ships with our big blocks. I LOVED
hearing them say, “Blast Off!” all on their own!
Check out these cute little tootsies!
On Tuesday we talked all about the moon. We did
a fun moon walking game, trying to stay on the moon squares. So much fun!
For art we used texturized paint to cover a
full moon shape. We talked all about the different looks a fun can have,
focusing on the crescent and full moon shape.
In the afternoon, we made moon sand! We
combined shaving cream and cornstarch and VIOLA!
We used tweezers to create our own nighty sky
with felt stars and felt moons!
On Wednesday, we used a turkey baster to create
splatter art for a night sky.
Later we added the moons we made on Monday and
create a very cool space picture!
We went on a Moon Rock Hunt in the afternoon!
We had tons of fun!
We counted all that we found! We are great rock
hunters!
On Thursday, we created name rockets! Some of
us worked on putting together our names in the correct order, while others
looked at each letter and worked on spelling their name with me. No matter how
we created our rockets, my munchkins pasted down each square all by themselves.
Great job!!
How many stars are in your night’s sky? We
practiced our counting with our stars and moons!
Check out our crescent moons that we created
with our dot art!
On Friday we sponge painted and created a
sparkly star picture!
We celebrated Dylan’s Birthday on Friday!!!
Happy Birthday to you! Thank you for bringing in such a yummy cake!
To continue our celebrations, we dressed up in
the afternoon. My munchkins picked out their own outfits and I think they all
looked adorable!
We are still learning about outer space this
coming week. Check back to see what we were up to!
