“Small Fish in a Big Pond!”
This week, we talked all about
ponds! We learned that they are filled with water, plants and different
animals. Check out our week!
On Monday we spent the morning
making lime, Frog Jello!
For art we painted lily flowers
to create some beautiful lily pads!!
We spent all day on Tuesday
talking about frogs!
Can you leap like a frog? We
can!
We got to enjoy our Frog Jell-O
and talked about the life cycle of a frog. We made a life cycle- our cheerios
were the eggs, the gold fish were the tadpoles and the green Jell-O represented
the adult frog. It was delicious!
After learning about the
different body parts of a frog and how they related to our bodies, we made our
own frogs for art! Today, we worked on creatively creating frogs from what we
remembered at Circle Time. Such fun!
We learned about what frogs
eat through one of our favorite songs, “5 Little Speckled Frogs, Sitting on a
Speckled Log, Eating the most Delicious Flies, Yum, Yum, Yum, Yum Yum!” This is
a great way to practice our language development, learn about frogs and
practice counting backwards or learning about early subtraction!
Turtles were our focus on
Wednesday! We learned about their body parts and what they eat, and then made
one for art! We started by tearing paper, working on our fine motor skills.
We used the torn paper to
create a fun effect for the turtles shell.
Thursday was all about fish!
Check out our cute fish faces!
To explore our ponds at home,
we created a Pond-In-A-Bag for a fun science and art project today! These were
great sensory bags that my munchkins loved to squish!
On Friday we talked about the
different animals we learned about this past week. We reviewed our animals and talked about our favorites!
At art time, we made handprint fish and
talked about how fish can live in fish bowls at our homes too! We created a
fish bowl scene with beans at the bottom of our bowl to help create a nice home
for our fish.
In the afternoon, we fished
for letters and talked about the sounds they all make!
Such a fun Week!
