Happy Fall Y’all! We spent the
week talking about Scarecrows and cornfields!
Check out what I was able to get pictures of!!
We began our week by exploring corn! We looked
at it closely with magnifying glasses and used our fine motor skills to scoop
and pour the kernels from one cup to the next.
We made corn music makers, or maracas! After
decorating them with dotters we added kernels to the inside and added some
fancy crepe paper.
In the afternoon we danced to the music we
made!! What a blast!
We have been working hard on our newest
favorite fine motor activity, cutting with scissors. Look at that form! Thumbs
up everyone J
In our Kids Kitchen we explored foods that can
be made from corn. We tried corn tortillas and added cheese to them, making
yummy quesadilla snacks. Yummo!
We made scarecrow masks for art. This was a
great opportunity to explore our creativity and review where body parts are
placed.
Its share time for the letter E! Look at these
cute little teachers-in-the-making!!
We baked the remainder of our tortillas and
made healthy corn chips. This was a delicious little snack!!
For art we explored different things that begin
with our letter of the week, the letter e. We decorated lowercase e’s like
little chickens and will be adding a shell around the e to make an egg!
My munchkins explored Indian Corn and all of
it’s glorious colors. We used our magnifying glasses to get a closer look at
this interestingly colored corn.
Using corn husks to paint a crow template was a
fun art activity and a great reminder that you can use anything to act as a
paintbrush. Fostering creativity is so important! The possibilities are endless
J
Opportunities in learning are everywhere! After
coloring a scarecrow sheet one of my munchkins was hard at work sorting the
crayons back in to their correct color holder. This was a great classification exercise
and super helpful at clean up time.
Peek a boo! Who is that cute Scarecrow?
Here are some great moments I was able to
capture of some of the great bonds of friendship that we are creating in our
classroom!
