Gobble Gooble! It’s Turkey Week!!
We got very familiar with the beloved
Thanksgiving turkey this week! Check out some of the activities and art
projects that kept us busy J
We began our week with some fine motor
strengthening practice in our Kids Kitchen. Here we reviewed how to open a
clothespin, then played a shape and color recognition game, while developing
our oral language skills by picking shapes saying, “the blue triangle,” or
“white heart,” and then attached our clothespin to the shape!
For art we completed some great handprint
turkeys we had started the previous week. We added feathers and in the
afternoon attached clothespins to the feet so they could stand on their own!
We colored turkeys and then practiced our
sequencing abilities and sequential order vocabulary by putting the turkeys in
size order from smallest to biggest.
We made vanilla pudding in our Kids Kitchen! We
created an “i” with our pudding and enjoyed the delicious snack!
For art we made handprint turkeys! We reviewed
our color names and chose three different colors to create feathers for our
turkeys.
While reviewing our turkey theme in Kids
Kitchen, we practiced completing simple and challenging ABA and AABBAA
patterns!
Our little Turkey helped us review our numeral
recognition. Patterns and helped us learn the different body parts of a turkey.
We learned a fun Turkey song and had tons of fun
dancing like a turkey!! Check out these little turkeys!
We made turkeys with our own little
thumbprints!
To help us with our numeral recognition and to
gain a more in depth understanding in counting, we put numbered turkey feathers
in order from 11 to 20. We are slowly learning the “teens!”
We then worked on tracing numbers after
counting the number of turkeys on a worksheet. Our tracing skills are getting
better and better and my munchkins are so proud of themselves.
Our letter of the week this week is the letter
Ii! One of the ways we explored our letter of the week was looking for this
letter in our names. We have 6 I's!
We made Turkey Gobbler Hats at the end of the
week. Check back next week for some pictures of my munchkins in their hats.
